Carpentry, Steak, and Lobster
This holiday weekend brings us some decent meals. Tonight will be surf and turf with steak, lobster, and crab legs. Tomorrow will be grilled hamburgers and bratwurst. They're spoiling us and we'll all be disappointed again when Tuesday brings us chicken, pork, or roast beef...again. Oh well. I heard a rumor that KBR was performing a survey yesterday, so who knows, maybe we'll get contracted meals like the rest of the basecamps. Today, I spent the majority of the day banging nails into a frame for an annex on our tent. With the help of SGT Teague, a man blessed with some skill with a hammer and nails, we have a decent sized annex for storing our supplies and it will double as a pantry and entryway to our tent. I, as most of you know, was not blessed with carpentry skills. Though I think most of the rest of the Wyatt family was. Mike spent some time working construction and I seem to remember helping carry nails and tools for the storage building in the backyard of Randy and Paula's house when the rest of the guys built it many years ago. I got some much needed practice today putting together the frame and once I finish supper, I'll head back over and finish putting up the roof. Maybe I'll actually gain some skills from this. How about a new covered porch for the backyard, Kristi? Ok, maybe not. I'll cut this off so I can get in line for the meal. One of these days, I'll finish writing about camel spiders and post it. |
