Now it's Cold!
This is a country of extremes. Extreme heat in the summer, extreme odors eminating from the sheep and goats, extremely predictable extremists, and now extreme cold. Ok, it's not extremely cold yet, but after suffering through the heat of the summer, the upper 30 degree temperatures sure feel extremely cold. I've felt warmer in subzero temperatures in Bosnia. We were awarded our medallions (aka coins) and certificates of achievement for combat excellence by the 89th Brigade commander on Wednesday. Thursday brought us a great meal prepared by all of the cooks consisting of shrimp cocktail, roasted turkey, baked ham, prime rib, cornish game hen, cheese and macaroni, mashed potatoes, yams, cornbread dressing, bread, corn on the cob, green beans, potato salad, tossed salad, fruit salad, macaroni salad, fruit cake, sweet potato pie, pecan pie, apple pie, and pumpkin pie. Needless to say, the spread was bountiful. We actually had to tell them to stop loading up the food because we wouldn't be able to eat it all. It's the first time I've ever left the chow hall stuffed. Happy Thanksgiving and Beat the Hell Outta t.u.! |
