Moving out
The troop has started the move to some temporary tents to make room for the replacement unit. Some platoons were lucky and got trailers and decent tents. I'm excited because the tent we're being crammed into leaks and only one heater works, when we have power for it. The rain storm last night and the leaking has forced the battalion to make more accomodations and we've moved some of our guys into the MWR tent. Lucky them, they get satellite television and working heaters now. Of course, they also get people coming in and out at all hours of the day and night to watch TV. I think I'll take the freezing temperatures over the disturbed sleep. The scavengers and garage sale fanatics are out in full force. We've sold just about everything we've accumulated over the year, which means more DVD buying money :). Once the new unit gets here, we'll train them on our jobs, transfer authority, and head off on our last convoy. I'll post once we're headed to the States. With luck, we'll stop in Shannon, Ireland and I'll be able to use their wireless internet connection to post our progress. If not, I don't know when the next post will be, unless I can find some free time at Fort Dix. |
