Boy, have I been neglecting this site or what?
Posted by watts on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 (20:05:01) (299 reads)
Some brief updates:
- I stopped working on 16 May and took my three weeks of accrued vacation to carry me through 7 June.
- Got back from our Cancun vacation on Sunday...Wow, I have a new found respect for the Mayan culture. We visited Chichen Itza, Tulum, and Xel-ha. Chichen Itza left me in awe, Tulum was beautiful, and Xel-ha was fun. I know I've been a little negligent with the pictures and updates, so I'll try to get caught up with pictures tonight or tomorrow.
- 7 June is my first active duty order. I'll be gone for a month and back home for July 4th. Then it's up in the air for the rest of July until the 26th, when I have to report back to Waco. I'll be put on the mobilization orders around that time and I'm off to Fort Stewart within the next couple of weeks. No exact times can be given for the obvious reasons, but I'll try to post pretty frequently once I leave. I'll hopefully have the new website up and with that I'll be able to post directly to the site from my phone...with pictures too. I'll have Internet access through my phone while I'm in the States and will most likely get a SIM card in Iraq since my cell phone is a global phone.
- Katie is 8 years old! She's growing up fast, along with her brother, who is developing a really fun personality. He's a little genius like his sister and has developed a love for books as well. We hope he'll be reading early like Katie and since he won't start school until he's six, because of his birthday, we're going to try to find a school to get him a head start. Especially since we don't qualify for Head Start here, because our income is too high. Don't get me started on that...though I did learn that Mexico does not have a welfare system, which means they HAVE to work to live. Since everyone works that leads to fewer available jobs, hence the illegal immigration problem...but don't get me started on that either. We could probably learn a little bit from Mexico regarding the welfare system. Those who know me well, know my opinion of those who abuse the system.
Anyway, we're heading off to San Antonio next week for a free visit to Sea World. We'll try to catch the zoo while we're there too. Stay tuned for updates...and check back for new pictures.

My Dancing Baby

I'm playing with a new feature through my web host, embedded video.
This video is of AggieBaby getting his groove on. Notice the perfect clapping synchronization and the James Brown (may he rest in peace) stutter steps at the end.

Look what the storm blew in
Posted by watts on Friday, April 21, 2006 (12:15:47) (518 reads)
What a storm last night! My neighbor rang the door bell after the storm blew over and showed me what ended up in my driveway, after it hit my house and my truck. The winds last night seemed like miniature tornadoes, swirling the hail around and picking up the trampoline in the neighbor across the street's backyard, carrying it through the air and landing on the roof of my house and the hood of my truck. It shattered and left a nice dent in my hood and damaged the trim on my roof. Luckily, it didn't slam into any other part of my truck or into our front window.

I forgot to mention I uploaded a few pictures of Kyle (besides the ones on the front page). You'll find them in the photo gallery. I also uploaded a bunch of photos from my deployment to Southeast Texas for Hurricane Rita relief. More baby photos to come this weekend.

Some news briefs from the homefront
Posted by watts on Friday, October 28, 2005 (23:20:47) (348 reads)
Tune in on Monday, 31 October, for info about the newest Aggiefamily member. AggieMama should be induced on Monday and she couldn't be happier. Contractions for the past two and half weeks has not made her life pleasant.
On another note, I have pictures from my deployment for Hurricane Rita relief to Silsbee and Kountze, Texas. I'll be uploading those soon.
Yours truly's brother will be deploying off to Iraq shortly. I'll see if he'll be willing to blog on this site from Iraq and contribute some photos from his desert vacation.

Elvis has left the building
Posted by watts on Wednesday, August 31, 2005 (14:24:43) (359 reads)
The Aggiefamily pet is now frolicking with his predecessors in the kibble filled fields of doggy heaven. He will be remembered for his appetite for drywall, window sills, and metal crate doors. He was a sweet dog and he showered us with plenty of unconditional love. He wasn't very vocal, unless he needed to pee or eat. We appreciated his intimidating look, which kept the undesirables away from our doorstep and that damn chihuahua from taking a dump in my yard.
We'll miss you, Elvis.

Kildeer Chick
Posted by watts on Friday, July 15, 2005 (21:35:21) (333 reads)
Katie and I had been following the progress of a killdeer family a couple of months ago but the eggs hatched and the chicks grew up before we knew it. We have another family at work that terrorizes those who choose to park too close to their nest. A couple of weeks ago I noticed new eggs in the nest we had been visiting so I headed over with the kiddo today to see what was happening. I was greeted by the uhttp://aggiefamily.com/themes/dragonfly/images/bbcode/img.gif
Imagesual racket from the parents and what must have been a few other relatives. Mama bird did her broken wing dance and the others flew around yelling at the top of their lungs to look at them. We got to the nest and found a newly hatched chick and two eggs. Follow the link above or below to learn more about the killdeer.

Chimney Swifts
Posted by watts on Wednesday, July 13, 2005 (23:01:16) (363 reads)
We've got a Chimney Swift family roosting above the Aggiefamily front door. It was cute until the babies started pooping and momma bird started pushing it all out onto my doorstep. Oh well, she keeps the flying insect population down.
More about the Chimney Swift.
